Jason Leek

I was born on June 12, 1976 in Charlottesville, VA. I went to school and lived most of my life in Blountville, TN. In May of 2001, I married Amy Meade from Bristol, VA, and that's where we live now. We have a beautiful little girl named Lyndsy Netta Leek. She was born on January 31, 2003.

I was raised in church and was introduced to music at an early age. Growing up, I would spend the day with my Mom at her music store, watching her play the piano. She plays very well. I learned to play the piano when I was 6 years old and was always singing the Dukes of Hazard theme song to my teachers in school. (I was always considered the "class clown" in school...imagine that!)

My Dad, who lives in West Jefferson, NC, always had big collections of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver tapes, along with several other groups. I fell in love with Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel music by listening to those tapes. I soon developed a passion for a cappella singing by listening to the old groups like Chestnut Grove, The Hardin Brothers, and The Good Neighbor Quartet. After high school, I started ac a cappella quartet called the Glorylight Quartet, and we sang together for about 4 years.

In my free time, I enjoy playing sports, shooting pool, going to movies, EATING, hanging out with family and friends. I love watching cartoons with Lyndsy.

In December 2005, Barry Scott called me about starting a band, and in 2006, Barry Scott and Second Wind was formed. Our debut album received a Grammy nomination in 2009.

This past November, I received a call from my long time hero in Bluegrass, Doyle Lawson, about joining his band, Quicksilver. Although things were going well for Second Wind, I felt like I needed to take this opportunity to further my career. I am thrilled and honored to now be a part of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver!
